Frederick W. Thorne, III (Fred), a graduate from LS ����ֱ��’s inaugural 1962 class, was recently recognized by the Cedarburg Artists Guild in Wisconsin with an Honorable Mention 2D in their Annual Juried Exhibit. Jazz at the Sandbar returns to the ����ֱ�� for the Fall 2025 series, opening on Wednesday, October 8 with a tribute to Ellis Marsalis, the founder of Jazz Studies at ����ֱ��. The Beach at the ����ֱ�� dedicated its East Campus today to Robert Linlithgow "Bob" Livingston Jr., former U.S. Representative from Louisiana, with a sign unveiling and reception attended by community members and dignitaries including U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu. ����ֱ�� President Kathy Johnson was among the speakers at the dedication, highlighting Livingston’s decades of leadership and influence in Louisiana politics.  Read more

Mario DeLuca started his company DeLuca Technologies one year after Hurricane Katrina hit. Since then, he has seen incredible success, including having his latest venture showcased by Microsoft in a global customer success story. DeLuca partnered with local entrepreneur and founder of Doggie Bus Troy Bergeron, to make the “Uber for Dogs” app. However, this success did not happen overnight. DeLuca has had a love for programming since 6th grade.  Read more

The ����ֱ�� has announced the recipients of its top alumni honors for 2025. Kimberly Cook-Nelson, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Entergy, will receive the Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumni Award. Chef and entrepreneur Edgar “Dook” Chase IV will be recognized with the Norma Jane Sabiston Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Both will be honored at the 2025 Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumni Gala on Thursday, Nov. 6, at The National WWII Museum’s Boeing Freedom Pavilion.  Read more

The ����ֱ�� has received a grant from the Greater New Orleans Foundation to pilot a sustainability initiative aimed at reducing food waste through composting and community gardening. The award will support a project titled "Lowering Food Waste Through Gardening" and will run from May 1 through October 31, 2025.  Read more

The ����ֱ�� Press has published Neutral Ground: New Orleans 1990–2005, a new photography monograph by artist and ����ֱ�� alumnus William Greiner. The book presents a visual record of New Orleans during the years prior to Hurricane Katrina, focusing on the city’s built environment, public spaces and everyday scenes.  Read more
