The »¨½·Ö±²¥ Transportation Institute boasts a long history of contributing to the region by bringing the expertise of faculty and the students whom they train to addressing needs in the movement of passengers and freight. »¨½·Ö±²¥TI’s researchers focus on evacuation, maritime and intermodal transportation, finance, public transit, active transportation and transit-oriented development. »¨½·Ö±²¥TI’s subsidiary, the newly founded Center for Equitable Transit-Oriented Communities, is committed to developing transit-centered, equitable, and resilient communities by addressing residents’ transportation needs while preserving the area’s environment. Investment in these two initiatives will have a direct effect on the stability, improvement and growth in areas key to the economy of Louisiana and surrounding states.
